Chapters
ANNA serves its members through a national structure of over 67 local chapters. Chapters are the foundation of ANNA, making Association services locally available to members. By joining an ANNA chapter, members can promote their professional growth, advance nephrology nursing practice, and positively influence patient outcomes.
As an ANNA member, you are automatically assigned to the closest geographic chapter, based on your zip code. There are no extra fees, and you are encouraged to connect and participate in local programs held by your assigned chapter.
Can I join more than one ANNA chapter?
You can only be affiliated with one ANNA chapter, but you are welcome to participate in programs provided by any ANNA chapter and connect with any chapters near where you work or live.
How do I find a chapter or contact a chapter officer?
To locate a chapter, go to Find an ANNA Chapter and search for chapters by state. The results include city to help you narrow down the search results and chapter president contact information.
Can I start a new ANNA chapter?
Absolutely! You just need to follow the requirements for starting an ANNA chapter.

ANNA provides numerous online resources to support our chapter officers. See Chapter Officers Only for a list of resources and FAST 15 for a list of short videos available for quick chapter education. In addition to the online resources, ANNA provides direct support for chapter officers through members of the ANNA Chapter Support Team.
ANNA serves its members through a national structure of over 65 local chapters. Chapters are the foundation of ANNA, making Association services locally available to members. By joining an ANNA chapter, members can promote their professional growth, advance nephrology nursing practice, and positively influence patient outcomes.
Chapters provide ANNA members with readily accessible educational programs as well as an effective means to provide input into national issues. Chapters circulate important news and views of their members to the National Office, provide ANNA with essential information to effectively plan programming and influence the decision making of the Association, and enhance ANNA's reputation by communicating and collaborating with other nephrology organizations through workshops and special programs.
Chapters offer ANNA members the opportunity to assume leadership roles at the local level. ANNA supports chapter leaders in their leadership development by hosting the annual Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Workshop and many online resources available in the Chapter Officers Only section.
ANNA is proud to support over 67 local chapters! Each chapter is supported by a member of the ANNA Chapter Support Team (ACST), a committee of volunteers and members of ANNA. The composition of the ACST is set forth in the chapter bylaws, and the committee is charged with overseeing the management of the chartered chapters while upholding the mission of ANNA.
Our chapters provide local educational programs and community connections and networking to nurses throughout the country, and ANNA members are automatically assigned to their local chapter as a benefit of membership. Our nurses do it all:
- Plan evening and day-long programs
- Hold fundraisers
- Sponsor children to local kidney camps
- Provide scholarships for continuing education
Managing a local chapter is challenging and rewarding in many ways, both personally and professionally. ANNA supports our volunteer chapter officers by providing numerous resources.
